Welcome To The First Day Of The Rest Of My Life

Hello! Welcome to my blog! Wow, I'm so excited--this is my first blog post EVER! I'm really looking forward to using this blog to show you my recent photography work, and also as a chance for us to get to know each other.

My "About" page on my website is currently non existent (I'm dreading having to post the mandatory "selfie" photo), so I should probably tell you a little about myself.  I'm a recent environmental-engineer-turned-photographer. I studied engineering in college, and I worked as a project manager for an environmental consultant company for 11 years.  I was always proud of my job, but, truthfully, I never really enjoyed it.  So, with my husband's blessing, I quit my job last fall and began studying photography--and when I say "studying" I really mean "working my butt off."

I have spent endless hours shooting with my Nikon, taking photography classes at the local community college, studying the work of other photographers, etc. I also mentored under some incredible photographers, and I traveled several times to California just so I had a chance to shoot on-location with them. I've basically been hustling and doing whatever I could to get to "today."

For me, "today" marks the first day of the rest of my life, because I officially launched my website yesterday, which was like opening my doors for business. I'm not gonna lie, it was a scary thing to let everyone know you have a website, and then invite them all to view and (eek!) critique your work. I know that I still have a lot to learn both professionally and creatively,  but I'm also really excited to start this new life as a photographer, as an artist, as a business owner. But mostly, though, I'm really happy to just have reached "today." :)

I hope you join me on my new journey, and check in regularly to see my work.  Please always feel free to say drop a line and say hi, I would love to hear from all of you!
